Okay, I don't know much about this manga from Ai Yazawa yet, but from what I was told, Ren is a bassist and also Nana's boyfriend. Ren and Nana, both in love with each other, had to part at some time in the story, living life on their own in Tokyo, but the circumstances made them reunite... but that's all I know.
History: I did NOT have the idea to make this costume in the first place! One of my compatriot cosplayers actually requested me to do it for MangAzur '06 and she chose to do Nana... however, our plan failed to be carried on. I have nothing against her though, I managed to find another Nana group for Epita'06! Thanks a lot to tenten for having taken the whole group in charge.
What can I say... almost as easy as Robert Garcia, since it's composed of "salvaged material" at more than 70%, or in other words, of already crafted clothes. I just had to make the purple tunic. For the rest, old black pants passed to the cutter, a tux from which I carefully removed the buttons, a pair of boots, plus bits of white fabric hung on some places, and the most important thing (the lock pendant!). Voilą! However I had to endure a hell of a torture to get my hair done, since my hair is almost impossible to put in place...
