Name: Van Fanel Origin: Escaflowne Status: Complete Van Slanzar de Fanel, King of Fanelia, is a 15-year-old boy who has gained the priviledge to control Escaflowne, the most powerful Guymelef (a battle-mech) in the world of Gaia. Shortly after his ascension to the throne of Fanelia, his city gets attacked by the Zaibach Empire and is left in ruins. With Hitomi, a young student that he brought from Earth to Gaia, Van escapes the disaster, ready for vengeance... History: As I acknowledged about the Anime Expo 2003 Karaoke Contest, my mind got set upon "Mystic Eyes" from Escaflowne, that I was discovering at the time. Then I thought: "Why not bringing a costume to this contest like everybody usually does?" And the idea came. Van Fanel. Easy to make... I couldn't be more right about the result: the easiness and ghettoness combined together. But whatever, it was for a Karaoke contest, not for the Masquerade. At AX2003 the costume consisted of white pants belonging to my brother, fitting tight, just like Van's in the anime, plus a red female T-shirt with a black lace on the collar, then the pair of gloves I borrowed for Locke's costume.
